About Me and the Outdoorsy Lady

Thank you for reading The Outdoorsy Lady. I’m a lady lawyer most days of the week, but otherwise you will find me outside on a slope, or a rock, or a mountain. I wasn’t always an adventure enthusiast though because I discovered the Great Outdoors a little later in life (at the ripe old age of 23).

Some kids grow up camping, fishing, and hiking, but I started out in this world identifying myself as a hard core city girl. After all, I was born in Los Angeles, then I moved to NYC for a few years where I continued to play in the concrete jungles. It wasn’t until I went to law school and met some crazy friends who wanted to hike and rock climb all the time that I discovered a whole other world outside. I still love the benefits of being in the city – e.g. local coffee shops, boutiques, and glorious food. The best part is that I feel like I finally found a home that is in the best city for both these worlds to collide…Of course, that city is Denver.

It’s been seven years since my first hike in Yosemite. I’m now officially hooked on camping, skiing, climbing, and hiking. I’ve long tried to reconcile my two lives. On the one hand, I love clothes, shoes, and fine dining experiences. On the other hand, I love being outside camping, hiking, and climbing things. When I’m in nature I feel that moment of connection with my inner peace. It makes me feel present in that moment whatever it may hold (awe, discomfort, joy).

Fortunately, I’m just as comfortable in a tent as I am in a five-star hotel. I’ve been to 11 countries (and counting). There are plenty of adventures that I’m eager to do in the future, including marrying my fiancé later this year.

I have a feeling that I’m not alone. I know plenty of ladies who can climb a mountain and rock the boardroom in 3 inch heels. I will contribute my own stories, but I also want to chronicle women who love to kick ass and take names outside, at home, and at work. I hope you enjoy following along.
